چکیده

Having two “sibling” Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) in the same galaxy offers additional advantages reducing a variety of systematic errors involved estimating Hubble constant, H 0 . NGC 4414 is nearby included Space Telescope Key Project to measure its distance using Cepheid variables. It hosts sibling SNe Ia: SN 2021J and 1974G. TYPE Ia SUPERNOVAE AND THE HUBBLE CONSTANT

The focus of this review is the work that has been done during the 1990s on using Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) to measure the Hubble constant (H0). SNe Ia are well suited for measuring H0. A straightforward maximum–light color criterion can weed out the minority of observed events that are either intrinsically subluminous or substantially extinguished by dust, leaving a majority subsample that h...

Hubble Residuals of Nearby Sn Ia Are Correlated with Host Galaxy Masses

From Sloan Digital Sky Survey u’g’ r’ i’ z’ imaging, we estimate the stellar masses of the host galaxies of 70 low redshift SN Ia (0.015 < z < 0.08) from the hosts’ absolute luminosities and mass-to-light ratios. These nearby SN were discovered largely by searches targeting luminous galaxies, and we find that their host galaxies are substantially more massive than the hosts of SN discovered by ...

Type Ia Supernovae and the Value of the Hubble Constant

The methodology involved in deriving the Hubble Constant via the calibration of the corrected peak luminosities of Type Ia supernovae (SNe) is reviewed. We first present a re-analysis of the CalánTololo (C-T) and Center for Astrophysics (CfA) Type Ia SN surveys. Bivariate linear least squares and quadratic boot-strapped fits in peak apparent magnitude and light curve shape are employed to corre...

Cepheid calibration of type Ia Supernovae and the Hubble constant

We investigate how a different calibration of the Cepheid Period-Luminosity (PL) relation taking into account the metallicity corrections, affects the absolute magnitude calibration of Supernovae (SNe) Ia and, in turn, the determination of the Hubble constant H0. We exploit SN Ia light curves from literature and previously unpublished data, to build the MB – ∆m15(B) relation and we calibrate th...

Sn 1984a and Delayed Detonation Models of Type Ia Supernovae

Received ; accepted – 2 – ABSTRACT SN 1984A shows unusually large expansion velocities in lines from freshly synthesized material, relative to typical Type Ia Supernovae (SNe Ia). SN 1984A is an example of a group of SNe Ia which have very large blue-shifts of the P-Cygni features, but otherwise normal spectra. We have modeled several early spectra of SN 1984A with the multipurpose NLTE model a...
